USQRA Awards Presented

The United States Quad Rugby Association (USQRA) held their 13th Annual Awards Dinner on April 13th in Denver, Colorado. Held in conjunction with the USQRA's Division I and Division II National Championships, the evening provided an ideal setting at which to present some special awards and express gratitude to the association's sponsors.

The USQRA’s Spirit of Achievement award was presented to Nancy Lehrer. Nancy is a physical therapist who has worked with the Atlanta team for several years.  In 1999, she served as the trainer on the US National Team that competed at the World Wheelchair Games in Christchurch, New Zealand.  She worked on the staff of the 2000 Paralympic Rugby team and is currently a trainer with the USQRA’s High Performance Training Program.  Nancy’s hard work and dedication have helped athletes at all levels compete at their best and we are proud to honor her with this award.

This season’s Athlete of the Year started playing rugby six years ago.  He has made steady improvement as a rugby player and was accepted into the USQRA's High Performance Training Program in September.  He has been a stabilizing force in his team’s rise to national prominence and was a standout on the USA Stars team at the World Rugby Challenge this past January.  Recently named as a member of Team USA, the USQRA is pleased to honor Andy Cohn of the Phoenix Heat as our Athlete of the Year.

In addition to congratulating Nancy and Andy on their awards, the USQRA would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous support of the USQRA's post-season tournaments. We couldn't do it without you!
