Nationals Wrap Up

The Denver Harlequins hosted the 2002 United States Quad Rugby Association’s Division I and II National Championships on April 13th-15th at Metro State College in downtown Denver, CO.  The Mile High City was the perfect setting for a great weekend of rugby.  Division I and II games were competed side by side at Metro State’s beautiful three-court facility.

The competition was fierce throughout the weekend and it seemed like there was always a nail biter amongst the games in progress.  The NEPVA Pitbulls from Boston, MA wore down Sharp Edge to capture the Division II Championship.  The Lakeshore Demolition squeezed out a three-goal win over the Phoenix Heat in a tightly contested game to take the Division I Title.  Lakeshore has now won an unprecedented four straight USQRA National Championship’s.  In a first for the USQRA, the Division I Championship game was broadcast live in the Denver area.
