Quad Rugby/Invite - 2002 Valdosta Cup

Dear Team Representatives,

The 13th Annual Valdosta-Lowndes Cup Wheelchair Rugby Tournament will be held on December 6-8, 2002 in Valdosta, Georgia. Sponsored in part by Sportaid and Valdosta-Lowndes Community Affairs Department, this year’s tournament will feature eight teams. Listed below is important information that will assist you in planning for the event.

Tournament Information

Who:
The eight teams attending this year’s tournament are the Lakeshore Demolition (defending champions), Augusta Riverhawks, Atlanta Thunder, Carolina Crash, South Florida Rattlers, Suncoast Lightning, Tampa Generals and Tentucky TNT.

Cost:
The registration fee is $250 per team payable to John Bishop. All payment must be received by November 15^th at 5861 White Cypress Drive, Lake Worth, FL 33467.

Gym:
All games will be played at the South Lowndes Recreation Center which is the same gym we have played at the last few times. It is a single court facility with good accessibility.

Times:
Play will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday morning and should conclude by 3 PM on Sunday. The final schedule will be provided to all teams in mid November. Some meals may be provided on-site if possible, but no promises are being made.

Hotels:
Discounted rooms are available at the following hotels held under the Valdosta Cup group rate. Accessibility of the hotels listed is unclear other than most teams stayed at these properties last year. Listed hotels are all located at exit 5, which is the closest exit to the gym.

Classification:
At this time I don’t know if any classifiers will be present. Please contact me right away if you have new players that need to be looked at and classed.

Payments:
Payment of $250 is due in full by November 15th, 2002. Please make your checks payable to John Bishop and mail them to the address below.

Note:
The Valdosta Cup provides a great opportunity to introduce new players and teams to our sport. If you have people interested in becoming referees or classifiers please let me know. We will try to schedule appropriate training over the weekend if there is enough interest.
