UNITED STATES QUAD RUGBY ASSOCIATION

May 2002

To all Teams, Coaches, and Tournament Organizers

The United States Quad Rugby Referee's Association is interested in expanding its referee membership. We recently held elections for our group and Ric Costow was elected as the at-large representative. One of the main functions of that position is to organize and run referee clinics throughout the country. Now that the national tournament is over it is time to start planning for next season. When planning for tournaments in the upcoming season, we are asking all teams to seek out individuals who who have an interest and the ability to become referees. We also ask that teams consider holding a referee clinic in conjunction with their tournaments where possible. If teams identify potential referee candidates but are unable to host a clinic, we can hopefully send them to a clinic at a tournament near their local region.

This is important to us and to the USQRA. We are seeking to make our existing corps of officials larger and better nationwide, and we believe that having more referees will provide better coverage geographically, which may help to reduce the expenses involved with providing referees for tournaments. It should also help to increase the overall growth of the sport of quad rugby by getting more people involved.

Please contact Ric Costow by telephone or mail if you are interested in hosting or attending a referee clinic. Ric will help interested parties to set up a clinic, and will do all that is possible to help ensure its success. We urge all teams to help us enlarge our number of referees so that we can help you enjoy your sport.

Thank you and enjoy the off-season,

 Ric Costow
