UNITED STATES QUAD RUGBY ASSOCIATION Related Pages |
February, 1998 Dear USQRA Members, First off, I am very
pleased to announce that the following companies have
stepped forward to help support post-season play this
year.
As Nationals rapidly approach, so do many issues that concern the sport and our association. Each year the United States Quad Rugby Association holds it's Annual General Meeting preceding the start of National Championships. This year's meeting will take place in Salt Lake City on Thursday, April 2nd, and is open to all members and anyone else that has an interest in the sport. I encourage each team to have a representative present if possible. If you are unable to attend you will still be able to participate by voting on the issues by proxy. A news brief can be found on-line outlining these issues. The USQRA and PVA sponsor several Quad Rugby clinics during the off-season. In the past, the majority of these clinics were held to help spawn teams in areas where no team previously existed. Many teams in the league today got their start as a result of these grassroot clinics and hopefully many more will in the future. In addition to grassroots clinics, the USQRA and PVA would like to hold several mid-level to advanced training clinics during the off-season. Whether your team needs a basic refresher course, or your ready to move on to the more advanced skills and strategies of the game, there's a good chance that a clinic can be tailored to your needs. If you are interested in hosting a clinic in your area or you would like to receive more information please contact one of the offices of the USQRA, or send us an email. Now is the time to submit your request as only a limited number of clinics can be accommodated. I apologize for the seemingly lack of new information and articles on the web lately. Part of this is because much of my time has been occupied by other rugby tasks and the other part is that I have not received anything to share. I will continue to post schedules and tournament results as soon as I receive them whenever possible. I am told that stories and photos from the Conveen/Action International and Demolition Derby tournaments are in the works. If you participate in one of the many post-season tournaments over the next several weeks, maybe you will consider writing a brief article or taking some photos for the web? It really doesn't take long to write a story and your contribution will help to keep this website current and interesting. I wish all of the teams and athletes the very best in your post season tournaments. This has been one of the most exciting and unpredictable rugby season's that I have ever experienced. I look forward to seeing the results from Sectional's and watching the final action at Nationals. Good Luck, John Bishop
