2000 PARALYMPIC TRYOUTS

The USQRA is pleased to announce that tryouts for the 2000 Paralympic Rugby Team will be held in Pasadena, Texas on December 17-19th. Approximately 50 of the countries top athletes have been invited to participate in this process. 

Those people invited must accept or decline this invitation by November 5th. Please e-mail, fax or call Wendy Gumbert to accept or decline: wgumbert@hotmail.com  Phone 706-655-5720, (fax) 706-655-5718. Those accepting the invitation will need to fly into Houston's "Hobby Airport" on Thursday, December 16th in time to attend a 8 PM meeting. Return flights can be booked after 4:30 PM on Sunday, December 19th. Hotel rooms will be booked, and a roommate assigned for you at the cost of approximately $30 per night. More detailed information on tryouts will be sent to each invitee via US mail.

How the selections were made

All Regional Assistant Commissioners (RAC's) were recently asked to contact the coaches in their regions for recommendations of athletes to be considered for tryouts.  The names collected were turned over to the National team coaching staff.

How do I know if my RAC or Coach recommended me? 

Contact your Coach and/or RAC and ask them now. This information is not secret.

My RAC or coach didn't recommended me. What can I do? 

If you feel that you have been overlooked you can petition your case. To do so contact USQRA President Ed Suhr at (503) 238-1324, or by e-mail at esuhr@aol.com
