October, 2005 Let ‘em Know You’re Here Gabe Lawson wasn't a member of the Quad Rugby Olympic Team. Gabe wasn't a member of the National Team training program. Gabe wasn't one of the elite rugby players, but Gabe Lawson was a rugby player nonetheless. He was an avid fighter for equal rights and a fighter on the court. Gabe’s fighting nature sometime landed him into trouble or even times of getting on a nerve. This season he returned to the team and was a changed guy. He still was cracking the jokes but he seemed more mature and worked his butt off. Gabe wasn't the best player on the court but he let you know he was there. The last game he played in, at the Michigan Tournament in September, he said a very true quote in rugby and life, "Hit 'em, let 'em know you're here!" That quote defines Gabe's life. He may have not been had the best conditions in life, but in everything he did he gave his all and let you know he was here! Gabe Lawson passed away Oct. 19, 2005 due to complications from pneumonia and a blood infection. Gabe was and always will be a member of the Indy Quad Squad.
