Just wanted to say, love you guys! Saw Murderball this last week in my Nursing school class, its how we learned about spinal cord injuries. Hope to see you guys in action someday. Ps. Andy is delicious!
Brigitte Gressing - Friday, May 25, 2007 at 11:19 (EDT)
It made me smile the way Murderball showed some of the players in settings where they were helping others out. It takes a lot of courage to do something for someone else even when you yourself might be worse off.

Hi my name is Behrang and I think it's wonderful that someone found the time to create a sport for people limited to wheelchairs. Sure, there are basketball games made for the physically disabled but Quad Rugby feels like it is more specialized. I definitely wish I could watch some games in the near future.

awesome movie.. helped me look at life at a different prospective...

I would just like to applaud the athletes of quad rugby. I recently saw Murderball with my English class. The dedication the players put in to each and every competition must be so rewarding. Continue achieving your dreams and having fun while doing so!

Hi, my name is Amanuel. I recently
saw murderball in my sports literature class and i have to that it blew me away.
I'm glad that you could take a bad situation and make it better. While watching
it i couldn't help but wish i was on the court playing this game to.

Let me just start off by saying
that you are truely inspirational. I'm in a sports literature class in high
school and we recently saw the movie murderball. Your outakes and philosophies
on life is truely remarkable and it made us realize to think deeper about the
things we truely love. To allow yourselves to continue being active after your
accidents is looked upon by all of us and we wish you luck in your future games!

My name is Anne, I'm from
Portugal. I have recently seen Murderball, congratulations it's a great movie. I
thought amazing the strong of the team. The movie, show me and my friends (specialy
a one of them that is in a wheelchairs) that even in a wheelchairs we can have a
normal life. Congratulations!!!
Ana Rita - Portugal - Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 4:39 (EDT)
I want to thank the Wheelchair
Rugby Association and all who are involved. My son Jason DeSalvo , a member of
the Rugby Rams in St. Louis , was so very proud of his team and to be part of a
great organization. He worked hard at everything he did, but the rugby team
meant every thing to him and it was one of his greatest accomplishments. We will
always remember him as the athlete that he became to be.
Sharon DeSalvo - St. Louis, MO - Monday, November 20, 2006
My name is Caroline, I'm from New
Zealand. I have recently seen Murderball, I thought it was really great to see a
movie about people in wheelchairs and how life is as real for them as it is for
everyone else. Even though I was born with cerebella poulsy and I'm not a quad,
I identified mostly with one member of the rugby team (Bob) and also some of the
issues that affected all of the team but because I've had a disability all my
life it is hard to understand what's it like to have an accident and end up with
a disability half way through your life. I really just wanted to say how great
the movie was and I hope there's more movies like it. I was also wondering if it
was possible to be a penpal with any of the team members.
Caroline - New Zealand - Wednesday, November 16, 2006
I just watched Murderball finally
after hearing Zupan talk about it on NPR over a year ago. GREAT film. I laughed,
I groaned when you took hard hits during games and I had tears streaming down my
face for the final 20 minutes. I just checked out the calendar and although
there doesn't seem to be a team near me, I am going to try see a live
competition sometime.
Julie Zopa - Winston Salem, NC - Monday, November 6, 2006
I have just watched the
movie/documentary Murderball. I can just tell you that you are all an
inspiration to life itself. Just hoping that the able bodied rugby players of
the world watch this DVD to understand what's rugby is all about: courage, sheer
determination, competition and not a drinking game just like the able bodied
rugby players usually make it look.
Angie Farrugia - Malta, Europe - Sunday, October 8, 2006
Just watched Murderball...I played
Rugby in college until it turned into a drinking team with a rugby game before.
:-) I loved it...disabilities are all in your head. I lost part of my hand to a
table saw a few years ago. No problem, just adapt...you are an inspiration,
thank you. Now I want to go to Beijing, not to see the "regular" Olympics but to
see the "real" Olympics. Zupan, you're amazing. Thanks and namaste,

I was an employed as a pct on the
3rd floor over in the rehab center, and was most impressed with the Tampa
general quad rugby team. In fact I was able to see them play three times. You
all are really to be commended for the dedication that is shown by all of you in
this sport, and that handicaps are not a hindrance but a motivation. Congrats.

What's up guys I just wanted to
say that yeah its took me a while to see Murderball and see what you guys are
all about but the inspiration and good will and hope and all around good spirits
of you guys has given me a different perception on life as a whole and I really
wanted to tell you all that....I paused the movie half way to tell you this it
meant so much. I love that you all find the desire and strength to keep life
real and do so without feeling sorry or anything and I look at you all as real
role models when I take a look at my own life and I just wanted to thank each
and every one of you for your inspiration. You all have made me realize that
life is good and that even though its hard to see sometimes, if you look hard
enough its there and I thank all of you for that.

I know that MurderBall had been out for awhile but I just recently watched it and loved the movie. I never knew the sport was out there. I have been an incomplete para for the last 9 years. I would love to receive newsletters and such about the sport and even when and where they will be held. Would love to be able to make to one of the games.

I recently saw Murderball, and just fell in love with their determination, drive and spirit. I am a mother of a 6 month old daughter with Down Syndrome, as well as two other children without disabilities and watching this movie has allowed me the opportunity to get a glimpse of what life is like living with a disability every day, and how these men make the most of every ounce of their being. They all have my deepest respect, and I am proud of each of them! I had to snicker when one of the players said that folks often classify their sport as special olympics, and that the US team is playing for a gold medal, not a hug. I smiled so much at that comment, because so many people don't realize that the special olympics is VERY different from what these men do. So, to sum it up, I am now a fan, and I tell everyone I know about the Murderball DVD, and I once again, am happy that someone took a chance on these guys and told their story. Keep up the great work guys! Go Team USA! Bring us home that Gold Medal!!!!

Saw Murderball recently and loved it. My son is 13 and plays another cool sport - sled hockey. Check out USA Sled Hockey for more information. I recently wrote a book about the sport called "A Shark Out of Water" - available on Amazon.com. I'd love to see a PG or PG-13 rated Murderball that could be shown in schools.

I never knew about Quad Rugby. I saw Murderball- the film -and I am now a fan! I think you guys are the greatest athletes I have ever seen! Your talent, strength and skill combined are truly incredible to watch. I am an artist. I have always had "natural talent" so to speak-in art. I work hard at not giving up and only in the last few years have I realized how significant the not giving up part is in my own development as a person and an artist. I am good at drawing and rarely feel like I see others that have acquired as much as I have in terms of skill. So, related to this fact about me- I wanted to tell you that when I saw you play in the movie - I kept thinking- these athletes play this game better than anything I have ever done combined - in my whole life.
I want to see the next game that comes near me. I will keep watching your
schedule. Again- you guys are really great. Thanks for being willing to be part
of such a great film so that people like me could have a chance to learn about
your sport and to watch you play. A new true fan! Again - you rock guys!

I have a very personal interest in
the Phoenix Heat Quad Rugby team as the Tammy Smith of the support team for the
Heat is my niece while Brad is a member of the team. I visited them at their
home in AZ just days before they left for the tournament in Austin. There are no
words to really say how proud I am of both Brad and Tammy. Brad's determination
and perseverance and Tammy's support speak volumes about their lives. While in
AZ I watched "Murderball" and found the entire story to be awesome. My
admiration to each and every one of you involved in this phenomenal sport!! My
love and best wishes to Tammy and Brad

Saw the DVD today and here are my observations: Murderball athletes are HOT, VIRILE, MANLY, SEXY, AGGRESSIVE, COMPETITIVE, SELF-AWARE, STRONG, ARTICULATE, and NOT SAINTLY, thank goodness!!!!
LOVED the movie--very well done, lots of visual stimulation, great soundtrack, excellent editing. I plan to print the flyer and hand it out everywhere I go. I think the average person only sees one person in a wheelchair at any given time, and it's easy to stare or look away but not to interact. But to see these teams go at it with so much power is a REVELATION, and the DVD makes it impossible to remain out of the conversation. Thank you all so much. P.S. I even enjoyed the Jackass segment--young guys acting like young guys--I groaned and laughed--and I'm 57--

I did watch the documentary that
was on A&E and it opened my eyes to the world of Paralympics. I think that it

Dear fellow survivors, It is with
great appreciation that I write to you. I have a plate in my neck at C4-5-6-7
and an L4-5 spinal cord injury, but was graced by the universe to be able to
walk. What I appear to be, and who I know I am is vastly different - although my
disabilities do not show, I realize now how much I relate to your experiences.
And now I am interested/excited about this game that has empowered so many
people to their core being. I was happy to watch all of this movie - what others
would call gruesome, gave me a self-acceptance and an awareness that I am not
alone. After two neurosurgeries, the loss of speech, the loss of muscle/mobility
and intense pain, I realize that I don't talk about my experience. It was with
sincere appreciation that I watched each player share their private experience.
The education to the public is great, and more importantly for me, the telling
of the tale reminds me that I do not walk alone in this life. Thank you for your
bravery and courage in allowing us to witness your vulnerability as well as your
deserved Paralympics medals. You've touched my soul.

it was absolutely great! I am not athletically inclined to be honest, but I

I had the opportunity to meet Mark
Zupan at my university, URI. It was wonderful to hear him speak and the rugby

messed around in a wheelchair. It's difficult to imagine moving at the same

I would just like to say that it
must take real courage to play a game as rough as this. I play rugby in England
and it is a rough game but murderball is really tough and I have respect for all
of the disabled people out there not wallowing in self pity but keeping fit. You
give this sport a good name!!

Saw the lads play today at
Lakeshore at the Demolition Derby. I'm a teacher, and one of my kids (and soccer
players) came to check it out, too. So did my sister and nephews. A great
experience---constant motion and intensity all around, as there was two courts
of matchplay, with other players warming up between the courts. Texas has a guy
named Pate who is a blond tank. If you ever get a chance to see these guys play,
do it. Live long and strong.

Hi! I was apprehensive to watch
the movie, even though I have wanted to see it since it came to the theatres.
Well, I bought the DVD, watched it tonight...CAN'T get anymore real than the
feelings in the movie. GREAT JOB! I am a para. Have been for 5 years. Not
athletic, nor do I want to be, however, the emotions are the same. THANK YOU!
You make it REAL!

I just read that Bob Lujano was named MVP at the games in Chicago. I'm almost positive I knew him when he was at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as a child. I was a volunteer "play therapist." I'm pretty sure everyone called him Shooter.

Hey all you guys! I just wanted you to know that I made my 6 year old son (albeit on mute) watch the game scenes on Murderball. We are so likely as parents to minimize the game and just make it some nice little team sport, but the truth is- you gotta take what's yours- paraplegic or not. He plays for Lubbock Christian Athletics, and I know it's not the popular Jesus thing to let your kids watch Mark Zupan, but to me, that's EXACTLY what Jesus was about. You guys fuckin' rock, and if my son has to have men to look up to, let it be you guys! I'm tremendously impressed, and so was my little Jedi. I'll bet he plays a better game on Saturday, thanks to you. Much appreciated, guys!

I HATE SPORTS! At least I always thought I did. Even the traditional wheelchair sports made me yawn, ho-hum (been an SCI nurse for many years). That is until I saw Quad Rugby. I'd heard about it back in the late 90's, but never knew if it came into its own until Murderball. What excitement! What attitude! What fun! Well, you have a new fan. Wish you were televised, so I could bump hubby off the recliner, steal the remote, pop open a beer, yell at the TV and just be one of the "regular guys", doing my own thing! Need a team nurse?

Hey guys: Have seen "Murderball"
three times since it premiered. No, I'm not a loser, just amateur filmmaker. And
overall rugby fan. I saw it by myself the first time, and took friends the
second and third. It's great on every level. The sport. The team. The
filmmaking. It's unsmary approach to life in a chair. I've told everyone and
e-mailed everyone I know to go see this film. What else can we do? Seriously,
this is the only movie since "Bambi" to get universally great reviews. NO ONE
WHO'S SEEN IT HAS A BAD THING TO SAY ABOUT IT. What more can be done in your

Just saw the movie and I'm speechless! It is a beautifully made film, enormously entertaining, inspiring and thought-provoking. Importantly, it teaches valuable life lessons, including what constitutes good sportsmanship and persevering in the face of daunting odds. Well, I guess this would be considered fan mail. I looked for an official page of Mr. Zupan's and could not find one. Just wanted to say that I saw Mr. Zupan on the Regis/Kelly show. What a heroic individual. He was articulate, and brought alot of insight into this amazing sport. He is an inspiration to all people. If he can do all the exceptional things he does it gives one a hint to get out there, and pursue their dreams.
My family will definitely be going to the movies to see this film. It's a cool story, and it's stars all deserve a round of applause, and kudos. Thank you, and hopefully Mr. Zupan will know there are others that have been inspired by him. He's a great role model for all kids.
