We are in the midst of a very exciting season. I am looking forward to the postseason and another thrilling Nationals in Phoenix. As we move forward, there are several things to think about. First, the USQRA Annual General Meeting will be held on April 10. Each team should plan to have a representative at the AGM so that you can have input into the organization. This is your chance to be heard, don’t waste the opportunity. We need your input. Secondly, I want to remind everyone that we need nominations for the USQRA Hall of Fame. There are some great players, coaches and support personnel deserving of recognition. The USQRA’s two annual awards, Spirit of Achievement and Athlete of the Year, should be nominated by the membership as well. The appropriate nomination forms can be found on the web site. I encourage everyone to think of individuals worthy of these distinctions as the season progresses. Finally, there are three positions up for election at the AGM; Commissioner, Treasurer and Vice President. Additionally, the Secretary’s position will be open as well. Angie MacCabe is stepping down due to family and work commitments. The USQRA needs motivated individuals who are willing to dedicate some of their time to help our sport. There is a great deal of work involved in running the USQRA and one or two people cannot do it alone. Please contact me at (503) 238-1324 if you are interested in helping our sport grow. Good luck in the
postseason! I look forward to seeing you on the court.
Constitution and Bylaw Changes The USQRA’s AGM will be held in Phoenix on April 10th. Anyone who has a proposed rule or Constitution and Bylaw changes must get them to Ed Suhr by March 21st. Please include the proposed change and the reasoning behind it. Email your proposals to Esuhr@aol.com I have to agree with Ed, there has been a lot of exciting play this season. With the Atlantic Sectional already completed, Hoveround Lightning has won its second sectional championship and the Casco Bay Navigators have advanced to their first national championship tournament, jumping directly into Division I. In Division II, Charlotte twice defeated Tampa to take third place. We can only hope for this much post season excitement around the rest of the country. This year's AGM is shaping up to be one of the most important for the future direction of our sport in several years. I expect that we will have extensive discussions concerning post season play, foreign players, chair specifications, classification and player transfers. While teams have the opportunity to vote through proxies, I encourage each team to send a representative to Phoenix as floor amendments frequently invalidate proxy votes and participation at the AGM allows your team's voice to be heard. Tom Hamill The USQRA would like to thank each of its post-season sponsors. Through their participation we are able to provide financial support to all of our post season tournaments. Please stop by our sponsors booths at Sectional and Nationals and let them know how much they’re appreciated. Without your support they will not continue to participate in our events so consider patronizing those companies that support our sport. USQRA 2003 POST SEASON SPONSORS Gold Medal Sponsors: PVA
