Nationals & AGM
The United States Quad Rugby Association National Championships will be held on April
15-18 in Phoenix, Arizona. All Team Representatives are encouraged to attend the AGM on
April 15th. If you are unable to attend, or send a team member in your place you may vote
by proxy on the issues that are printed in the next newsletter. Please fax your vote to
Kevin Orr at (205)868-2283 by April 12th and identify which additions or changes for which
you are voting.
Any proposed Bylaw or Rule changes are due by March 24th
Any proposals/rule changes you want brought up for discussion or vote at the AGM must be
submitted by March 24th. Your written request needs to be received by the Commissioner or
Secretary no later than this date for it to be considered for the AGM agenda.

EAGLE, QUICKIE, SPORTAID, and INVACARE continue to support our sport, and have once again
supported our post-season tournaments with the donation of Rugby Chairs and cash. You have
the opportunity to bid to win one of these chairs by open bid auction at this year's
National Championships in Phoenix. The bids have been, and will continue to be open until
the conclusion of the National Tournament. The current high bids can be viewed on the
website, or by calling John Bishop at (561) 964-1712 until April 12th. The winners will be
announced after the Championship Game. Call John for more details. Thank you to our

1999 Team USA Tryouts
Warm Springs Rehabilitation Institute in Warm Springs, GA will host the 1999 Team USA
Rugby Tryouts on May 28-31st, 1999. This will be for a developmental team that will
compete at the World Wheelchair Games in Christchurch, New Zealand in October. The team
will consist of players without Paralympic or World Championship experience. Any athletes
interested in trying out for this team should submit an application to the Secretary by
April 7th. Anyone who has an interest in participating as staff members on this trip
should prepare their resumes and submit them with a cover letter to the Secretary by March
31st. This includes coaches, team leader, equipment manager, trainer, team nurse etc..
Preference for staff members will be given to those qualified applicants with no previous
international rugby experience, but no one is excluded from applying. Five players from
each class will be selected to tryout. The final team will consist of 12 players, plus a
five person staff.
Foot notes; those selected to try-out must be at the tryout
camp by 8 PM on Friday, May 28th for orientation. You should expect to attend two
additional training camps prior to New Zealand if selected to the National Team. The team
will depart on October 4th and return on October 19th. The estimated cost of the trip is
$3,000. The USQRA is working on securing partial funding, but you should be prepared to
cover your own expenses or find sponsorship to cover them. Applications will be available
on the web page soon, or by fax if you call the Secretary or President.
Selecting staff & team for the 2000 Paralympics
The coaching staff and team leader for the 2000 Paralympics will be chosen in November,
1999. Tryouts for the Paralympic team will be held in May/ June 2000.

Thanks to John Bishop and the writers who contribute articles from their
tournaments, and from the world of rugby. We need you to contribute articles to publish on
the web and in other publications. This is a great sport, and we all need to be involved

USQRA Athlete of the Year & Spirit of Achievement Awards
You can cast a vote on the USQRA web site if there is someone that you would like to
nominate for either of these awards. Criteria and information can be found in the last
newsletter or online. Look for the animated icon on the Main Page and the Rugby Calendar
of quadrugby.com. If you don't have Internet access you can call (561) 964-1712 to request
a ballot. This is YOUR chance to recognize the people that you compete and share the sport
with. Cast your vote today!
Autonomic Dysreflexia Information
The USQRA and PVA will be distributing a very informative brochure on Autonomic
Dysreflexia very soon (It may be distributed as soon as the last few Sectionals or
Nationals). It is published by PVA, and is available in both English and Spanish, and
comes in a consumer or medical profession version. Details will be made available as soon
as possible.
