Dear players and coaches, I'm 60 years old, retired physical education teacher, I live in Brazil and this night I had the great opportunity to watch in the TV a movie about you (players)and the USA Paralympic wheelchair Rugby. During my career I've meet a lot of young people with the same problems you have, but unfortunately here in my country there is no kind of sport support for them. You all (players) are a real "EXAMPLE OF LIFE", courage, effort and perseverance. Congratulations for you and GOD bless you all Sidney

I've watched Murderball many many times as I own it, and I am never disappointed. I have so much respect for you guys. I am from Canada but I cheer for you guys. I can't wait for the next Olympics and I'll be requesting that we get to see your games. I have severe back problems and I feel bad for myself, then I watch your movie and I get out and I play pool no matter how much it hurts, that's how much you guys inspire me. Peace to all of you, you are an inspiration to all. Good luck in the next Olympics.

Hey i just wanted to say you guys are awesome. I loved that movie muderball. I am a huge fan of the whole sport after seeing that inspirational movie. I work a st joes hospital in downtown Phoenix and recently showed that video to one of my patients with a severed spine at T5. Your movie gave him hope and i was wondering if any players still live in phoenix (i saw a couple of your players lived here in arizona) if they wouldnt mind coming and talking with this kid. He is only 22. I would help him so much. You can contact me at 602 677 3208 if you would be so kind as to make his day. I can make arrangments with the willing party. Again you guys are awesome and i cant wait to cheer for all of you in person. Hope to see you soon. God bless emily

Mark Zupan, It is to my knowledge that you have been on many T.V. programs speaking too many young adults about life in a wheelchair, like Jackass and many ESPN programs. It has come to my attention that you have really become comfortable with your wheelchair and that you would prefer to sit down the rest of your life even with the technology we have to help preserve life and continue on with DIGNITY HONOR AND RESPECT SO YOU CAN HAVE A FAMILY AND PERSERVE LIFE AS WE NO IT TO MAKE IT BIGGER BETTER STRONGER AND TO KNOW WHAT FREEDOM REALLY IS. Just want to know if you like having someone else doing all of your bodly functions for you EVERYDAY. It seems to me that I heard somewhere that you said " If I had the Chance to WALK again I wouldnt take it "that the wheelchair has made you a better person and that you dont want to WALK again. May I ask WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU are you brain dead? You must have been paralyzed in your brain. Iam 10x the athlete that you ever were or ever will be lol. People like you make me sick you dont even have the slightest incling of what LIFE is made of or really about. Do you know what it takes to get the bottled water in that bottle do you know what it took to get the lights to turn on that light your world do you know what it really takes to get the food on your table to feed that foul mouthed, foul hearted billigerant little boy that just needs put in his place. About me Jake Vernon paralyzed from the neckdown June 18 of 2000 Fathersday. Its been 6 years 10 months and 27 days and I would tell you the time but dont know woke up out of a coma 3 months later with brain trauma. Fractured Cervical vertabre 2 (the hangmans noose) Thurasic vertabre 8,9,10. Four skull fractures broken left shoulder and broken left metacarple. I couldnt even pinch my fingers together, talk, count etc. all motor skills were almost gone. God only knows why things have come back as far as they have. Im very lucky person. I went from 190 lbs. to 117 lbs. Now Im back to 170lbs. I bench press 315 lbs and have pushed my wheelchair 64 miles in one day that took 17 hrs 11min. I trained a guy Todd Fuller at University of Idaho to go to the world games for the special olympics the day I did that. I have been to Tucson Arizona and played with the Tucson Lobos, U of A wildchairs and raced in the Jim Click Walk Run or Roll Race they have in September. This year Iam going to do Bloomsday race even though I dont have a racing chair. The whole point to this is to get the word out that know one is a HANDICAP the only one that is HANDICAP is the one that thinks he or she is. That word derives from the old roman times when people use to go in the streets and beg for food and money with a cap to hold the food or money. Im here to say that I have not ever been or ever will be a HANDICAP or begger EVER. The point is to Zupan if you think its so kool to sit down and it is all right to sit down and have all the complecations that many people have sitting down in a wheelchair. Do you think that it is very humane for someone to tell you when your tire is flat that they cant help you or it is wearing holes in your body but no one will help you out. Im sorry but Ive not ever had my ass wiped for me by anyone else and will not ever let that happen. Many have tried many have fell to the side. The point is that with all this fame and fortunethis wheelchair has brought to you as you see it. Why havent you helped someone out get a chair cause I know of people that dont even have a chair. Could you imagine what you would do if you were in that situation what would you do if you did have the whole team their to wipe ur ass for you. I think your a pussy and you dont have a clue on what LIFE is really about. Ha Ha come here Ill teach you oh yeah when I was down at the University of Arizona I pushed my wheelchair up MOUNT LEMMON 26 miles to the top and 26 miles to the bottom 13 hrs lets see if anyone of YOU can keep up. REALLY DONT THINK YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES THIS IS WHAT FREEDOM IS ABOUT

DO YA GOT THE BALLS???!!!!?????!!!!????

Thanks,

Jake Vernon (208)704-6135 (208)765-5696 Coeur d Alene Idaho 83814 W emma apt I

I played traditional Rugby for years and played hard. You guys are as tough or tougher than any of the guys I played with.I had an injury to my spinal cord three years ago from a mountain biking accident.I can walk but have lost so much coordination that I don't get out there to ski, run, shoot hoops or play tennis all the time like I used to maybe because it reminds me of how much I've lost. You guys are so F**king awesome and so inspirational to me.Now I realize that even though I've lost a lot,I have so much living left to do and it's not going to be on the couch feeling sorry for myself. You guys are great and I'll be cheering you on.

My last rotation was in neuro inpatient rehab and had the opportunity to work with patients who had a spinal cord injury. We also just finished up a unit on treating spinal cord injuries during which our instructor before a lecture played the movie trailer for "Murderball" . After I saw the trailer I had to buy the movie and watch. I just want to say that you men are amazing and an inspiration to us all! Keep on fighting hard and go win us another gold. Go Team USA!!!

CONGRATULATIONS for winning the World Championships, North America and Canadian Cups. I was unfamiliar with Quad Rugby until my son brought it to my attention after his accident skiing rendering him a Paraplegic. My wife and I have become more appreciative of the dedication and determination demonstrated by you athletes. Yes, we have seen "Murderball", and this movie really brings out competiveness in spite of a disability. What disability? All I saw was an inconvenience shared by all making the playing field "even". My only question is....when may we see the sequel, i.e. Murderball II? Continued luck and good fortune, John Vcelka Sr.

To Mark Zupan:

I like to have the tied feet to the Earth and this why the actors do not attract too much to me, because they are not real. I saw you in I capitulate of "Miamy Ink", enchants to me (also Amy). I do not know anybody with fisical discapacidades. When I saw you in I capitulate, to me it is fascinated. I saw force, character, humor... and tatoos! my God ! theree was when I dye to see film Murderball. I saw; and I saw many things but. I hope that your grilgriend has contentment to you or when you remain unmarried removed the skin to you. I am married too (a pain;)), and work in a morgue! jajaja.

Until I saw the film, it was of the people who never plantearian a relation with which she needs a wheelchair, probably not to know anybody like. Now no longer I think it. I believe that you can feel satisfied whereupon is but people who have changed his opinion on the matter thanks to Murderball. I got to know about your wonderful sport through being the care giver to a quad. His name is Byron King. In 2003 while he was at St. Joseph's hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, Scott and Andy came to visit him. He enjoyed their visit very much. We watched Murderball together. We enjoyed it very much. You guys play the sport pretty tough, and it sure looks like yoú're having a blast. Byron and I are so proud of team USA. He tells me he would love to play the game if he could but, his injury is to high. So you guys play the sport for the ones that can't and bring home the gold if you can. Good Luck and all our prayers.

On behalf of all the athletes and staff for Team USA Christchurch, I would like to say THANK YOU for all the well wishes and great vibes we got leading up to and during our recent campaign in New Zealand.

The sacrifices this group endured were great and the results speak for themselves. All of this would have been impossible without the incredible support of families, friends, co-workers, and you the fan. Without you we are nothing.

We left New Zealand with golden memories and a driven purpose to continue the quest to “win”. It was a special feeling for everyone associated with the team, and we were excited to share it with all the great fans that traveled to Christchurch, and those following at home. Thanks again for your support!

From the sidelines……

No Joe in the Championship, I soooo wanted Team USA to meet GB in the final game. But, I must agree with the Fatman, it will be MUCH harder for Joe to sit and watch the Championship game rather than be coaching in it.

Gumby you b-da-man. You’ve kept this team on the tracks rolling straight towards the gold metal. The talent in the 12 men you have down there is unlimited. The trick was to keep them playing as a team for seven straight games. Six games so far and I believe the seventh is at hand. Guys play smart, play your game and GET-ER-DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then return home safe with the “GOLD” and let’s get the USQRA season started, so we can once again beat the crap out of each other.

Hello,

I meet Mark Zupan in Lansing, Michigan at MSU's campus when they were showing Murderball. I just wanted to say thank you to Mark, I got a chance to talk to you one on one and what you really changed me and really opened my eyes. I am a teenager and have heard many storys of what can happen when you are or someone you know is drinking and driving, and when I heard his story it really opened my eyes. I tell anyone and everyone I can about you story and tell them to go rent the movie. THANK YOU! and GOOD LUCK!!!

I teach nursing at the Butler County Community College. The RN students have a clinical rotation at HEALTHSOUTH/Harmarville Rehabilitation Hospital and assist with care of patients on the brain injury, spinal cord injury, and stroke units. Students learn about these neurologic injuries in class and we have many interesting discussions in our conferences at the clinical facility. "Murderball" will be one of the "must see" videos that will be required in this course. Excellent, compelling, tell it like it is, that's what this video is all about. I applaud you! Mark Zupan discounted the "hero" label, but that's what you are to many people, believe it or not. You instill hope. And hope changes lives. Thank you gentlemen!

I borrowed the dvd Murderball from a friend two days ago. Since then, i have watched the movie twice (regular version) and twice ( player commentary version). I have also watched all the extra footage, including the jackass thing like three times. I am overwhelmed at your "Testicular Fortitude". You have waken up my soul, and spirit. You have challenged me, as an able bodied person, to get actively involved in my own life. You guys are true Champions!

I watch the movie and wake up lots of feelings. I am self in a wheelchair since year 2004 and was in rehab Orup in Hoor 2005. When I watch the movie all feeling from the period on Orup come and I cry. In my city there is no sport for those in wheelchair something I miss. I must say the wheelchair in the movie did woke up a dream to find a good chair to race in. Race is something I love but that is not why I get stuck in this chair. I have a rheumatism calld systemisk lupus erythematosus but it is a nice disease accept periods when it turn to something terrible. One period place me in the chair and I got Myelit(inflammation in spinal marrow) and happen two times. First time I walk after 6 month but this time the inflammation feel more aggressive. I am stubborn and my plan is to be walking again and have couple off ass to kick when I have made it. Isn´t that a fine carrot to be walking again ? Funny thing is .....those I want to kick belong to swedish authority. My leggs are working and often I can stand on them but I cant take a step before I fall and when I fall I use to laugh and everybody see me as a fruitcake. I dont care what they think and this is a way for me to handle things. If they could only see the picture I have inside my head they should also laugh. Many also think is strange I can be a optimist even if all terrible thing have happend but for me it´s not strange. I am still me and my wheelchair is only a part off me ...right ? Many around me also believe I cant do anything because off the wheelchair but sad thing is they dont know me. If I say I think about totaly clean up my home then I do it whit out help. I have never become the wheelchair. Many also stop me when I see downhill slope and want to see how fast I can come down and make myself ready and before spead come something stop me. I watch my back and someone hold in my chair and preach about how dangerus that is *sigh* I do wish everybody could see Murderball and begun to see me as I am and not only the wheelchair. I had a dream and work on to make the dream to become true before the bad period come. I dream about be a mechanic, build up a car and race Paris-dakar. The dream still live and I know I can still make the dream come true. Now I have another dream to write a comic strip whit my crazy thought and wheelchair so everybody maybe understand ,life is not over because the wheelchair. I did something crazy last summer and now everybody remind me how crazy I am but I think it was fun. I wanted to see if my rotwhiler could pull me and if she did good maybe we could race. She pull me but when I wanted to show my friend the chair get stuck and I flew and that was funny and I laugh all night. Now to my wish........I do wish a photo whit everybody in the team in and autograph but I dont know how to get it. Can someone send me a e-mail about how to do. Once again I like the movie even it woke up feeling I try to hide. Nickie_t737@yahoo.se

Hi to all, I just saw the movie last night with my girlfriend and found it so amazing that this sport is considered in the Olympics, I am so happy for all of you and please go get that GOLD MEDAL. My question is , will you guys be practing or is there any games in the New York area, or Continental Arena, in New Jersey, I would definetely go see you guys. My special congratulations to Scott Hogsett, Andy Cohn and "kick ass" Mark Zupan.

One thing I learned from the movie is, I would never offered my help to someone in a wheelchair, I would just say "Hi big guy". Best of luck to all of you, and God blessed you all.
